Seasons

Seasons – We have them here in Wichita Falls but not always in the month you would expect.  That is why we are starting now to prepare for winter at Wichita Falls Faith Mission.

As you may have heard, we have been limiting the number of people in our Day Room at Faith Mission because of COVID-19 and social distancing requirements.  We had a few days this past summer when the heat index rose to dangerous levels and we opened every space necessary to get our clients out of the heat.  We are getting ready to do the same thing for the winter months.

Presently, we are serving lunch and dinner outside.  Our goal is to start serving meals inside by October.  This will mean adjusting our schedule and maybe even serving in shifts so that we can maintain proper social distancing in the dining hall.  We will monitor the spread of the virus locally and make a call on letting volunteers serve the meals as soon as we feel it is safe and responsible.

I wanted you to hear this directly from me because we all know how rumors spread and information gets confused.  If you are a volunteer, first let me say “Thank You” for your service to our clients and staff and secondly, let me ask you to continue to stand by as we evaluate our situation for your return.  If you would like to become a volunteer, please call our volunteer coordinator, Paula Hall, at 940-322-4673 and she can fill you in on the process.

As always, we ask for your prayers as we serve a very vulnerable population during this pandemic.  So far, we have only had two confirmed cases, one client at Faith Refuge and one staff member at Faith Mission.  Both are doing fine.

Seasons – We have come to depend on them.  Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter remind us that God is in control.  His order for things declares His faithfulness and His never-changing nature.  This ball of earth and water we live on tilts one way and the leaves begin to fall and it tilts another way and everything springs to life.  We have come to depend on it.

And then there are those “Seasons” in life that no calendar can predict.  For the first time in my lifetime, we are experiencing a worldwide season of pandemic that no one knew was coming and no one knows when it will end.  But God knew and He knows.

This is my hope.  God knows the seasons and He knows me.  “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8:28
