There are very few things that distress a homeowner more than the news, “You’ve got termites.”  When I heard those three words, all I wanted was for them to be gone.  But I soon learned there is a lot more to it than that.  Yes, they can be treated and even eradicated … for now.  But prevention of their return is also important.  And, what about the damage they caused before you discovered them.

All those things need to be addressed.  It takes a comprehensive approach of prevention, treatment, and repair.  And this is necessary for the life of the structure.

At our two shelters, we serve men and women who have been struggling with addiction, some of them for years.  Like termites, there is no one-time, silver bullet approach to victory.  The same comprehensive approach of prevention, treatment and repair are necessary.

Of course, starting with a new mind and new way of decision-making should come first.  This is why we base our recovery program, New Beginnings, on Romans 12:2, “Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds …”. A new mind is the pre-requisite for new behavior.  And Christ wants to give that to us.

With a new mind, comes new thinking.  New thoughts about prevention by changing their people, places, and things. New thoughts about treatment by appropriating the power of God through prayer, fellowship, and Bible study.  And new thoughts about repair by seeking forgiveness and the restoration of broken relationships.

We are here through all this process.  Our dedicated staff want to facilitate all the steps towards a new life of victory over addiction.

We are honored to serve in this way.  They come to us broken and vulnerable … looking for new answers and a new life.  Praise God, we can lead them to both.
