I don’t know if you are aware of this, but we live in a very generous community. Wichita Falls and the surrounding area is made up of some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met. The support we receive, along with the other nonprofits like this radio station is sometimes overwhelming. To put it simply, you respond to need.
I get asked all the time, “What do ya’ll need at the mission?” Sometimes the answer is, “What do we not need?” It changes from day to day and from season to season.
Right now, we are gearing up for winter. That means all kinds of cold weather gear such as coats, hoodies, gloves, and toboggans. At both our shelters, we will be providing those items to the guests who come in without them. At Faith Refuge, we will need children’s sizes.
The next question I get is, “Where do I take them?” There are several options, and we want to make it as convenient for you to donate as possible. Generally speaking, if you want your donation to go directly to our guests at the shelters, you can take women’s and children’s items to Faith Refuge and items for both genders and all ages to our clothing ministry at 1205 Lamar.
If you don’t mind your donation being sold to support our programs and services, you can take your items to either of our stores, Faith Resale and Donation Centers. One is on Jacksboro Hwy next to United and the other is at the corner of Kemp and Southwest Parkway next to United.
We promise to be faithful and responsible as we distribute these items to those who need them. Last year we handed out over 800 coats.
Which leads me to the other thing we need, more than anything else. We need your prayers. We need God’s hand on this ministry and His servants as we strive to serve at our shelters. We need wisdom and sometimes patience to answer the call day in and day out. We need physical strength to keep up with the hectic pace. And we need discernment as we listen to their stories and guide them toward a brighter future.
In short, we need prayer to do God’s Kingdom work. I hope you will pray for Faith Mission and Faith Refuge as we serve the homeless and addicted in our area. And I want to express my eternal gratitude for all the other ways you support us.
