The Bible reveals all we need to know about God to follow Him and serve Him. For instance, the very first words in scripture reveal He is a creating God. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
Also, His creation reveals some things about Him. Not only is He a creator but He is creative. Did you know that according to the Smithsonian Institution, there are around 17,500 different species of butterflies in the world. Why so many? The only explanation that makes sense is that He wanted to. God loves variety.
In much the same way, God went to great lengths to make us all unique and different. No two people have the same fingerprints.
At Wichita Falls Faith Mission, we value that uniqueness in every person, and we have built that value into our ministry. You’ve probably heard me say this before, but we believe that every person has a story and every story matters to God. Whenever we listen to their story, we not only listen for ways we can help, but we also get to know them as fellow travelers through this thing called life. We have the opportunity to introduce them to God and His Word believing that it can be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
We truly believe that our past can become His present as we surrender to His plan for our lives. But the truth remains that every person needs to know that someone cares about them and their story. They need to know that someone loves them just as they are. And whether they know it or not, they need someone in their lives to tell them the truth in love.
We believe that all those things are our roles. We love them just as they are, but we also love them too much to leave them there.
Every story is just as unique as every person, but the one constant is that God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and His promises never fail. One of my favorites is found in Philippians 1:6 and it says, “He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.”
