Faith Mission to Upgrade its Playground

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) – Jose, 11 and his sister Jazmin, 9 are just like any other kid.

“I’m more of outdoors instead of inside sitting watching TV or playing games,” said Jose. “I just love doing cartwheels,” said Jazmin.

Right now, Faith Mission, a homeless shelter is where the children call home, and they’re not alone.

“The last two years we’ve just had a lot of children and families,” said Frances Anne Manning with Faith Mission. “That includes moms that are single with children and also moms and dads with children.”

A recent report shows from 2017 to 2018 the number of children they serve increased by 132 percent. Meaning more children like Jose and Jazmin were spending more time on the playground.

But after being used for 30 years Faith Mission officials have run into some safety concerns.

“The equipment itself is still in pretty good shape but the ground underneath needs a lot of work and preparation,” said CEO, Steve Sparks.
