Vision

Our vision is to eliminate homelessness.

Misson Statement

Our mission is to provide Christ-centered programs and services that lead the homeless toward self-sufficiency.

History

Established in 1958 by Bea and Dick Hogan as Faith City Mission. The original location was on Ohio street above the old Hornsby Hardware Store. In 1968 the former Lamar Baptist Church building at 402 Lamar was purchased for the Mission's first permanent home. As programs and services grew, it became evident a larger facility was needed and property was purchased at our current location on Travis Street and construction began. Three weeks prior to completion of the new building, it was destroyed by fire. The current facility at 1300 Travis Street opened on May 23, 1988.

In 2008, Faith Mission Thrift Shoppe opened in one of Wichita Falls' historic buildings located at 1628 Harrison Street. The Thrift Shoppe provides an outlet for training students. Sales support the ministries of Faith Mission and Faith Refuge.

In 2009 a new Day Labor Area was added to the North side of the building at 1300 Travis Street for a safe place for guests to wait for day labor opportunities.

To address the growth in the need to shelter women and families, a second shelter was added. The Grand Opening for Faith Refuge was on May 3, 2012 with 17 women and seven children moving in on May 7, 2012. This new $4.4 facility is located at 710 E. Hatton Rd. and was built debt free with the support of local partnerships and friends across the nation. The Faith team gives God the glory for providing the resources to complete the new shelter, debt free.

Faith Mission shelters men and families experiencing homelessness. Faith Refuge shelters women experiencing homelessness and mothers with children. Both shelters offer a one-year program, "New Beginnings" for persons struggling with addiction. Individuals enter the program voluntarily or by court order.

Faith Mission ministers to clients by providing for immediate physical, spiritual, social, emotional and educational needs through ministries of charity — regardless of any individual’s race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation or religion. This focused Christ-centered ministry assesses individual needs, receives clients into Mission ministries, and determines their personal areas of capability from which to nurture their growth process.
